Sales Representative – Turf & Ornamental –Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky

Reporting to the Great Lakes Sales Manager, this position will be responsible for leading the sales initiatives of the Turf and Ornamental product line.  As a member of our professional sales team, this role will develop and enhance relationships with golf course, lawn care, landscape, nursery/greenhouse accounts in the Cincinnati metropolitan region.  Although associated with the Columbus, Ohio facility, this position will work from a home office located in and covering the assigned geographic territory.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Actively manage the accounts of internal and external Turf & Ornamental clients, developing and maintaining solid customer relationships
  • Executing business plans that will assist in achieving sales objectives and expand the sales territory
  • Communication of price programs
  • Providing direction for logistics needs and product placement
  • Compiling and communicating up-to-date competitive market environment data relative to the industry and local sales territory
  • Conducting needs analyses as required to ensure appropriate programming requirements are delivered to the client
  • Providing training and support to the client and their staff
  • Preparing seasonal forecasts to the Columbus, Ohio warehouse location supervisor
  • Acting as liaison between customers and finance/credit department to ensure orders are given proper credit approval and are released for shipment  without delay
  • Participation in Product Innovation initiatives as requested
Required Skills

Qualifications of the position include:

  • Demonstrated ability to meet sales goals and objectives with analytical and reporting capabilities
  • Knowledge of fertilizer, grass seed and turf and ornamental protection products and associated marketplace conditions
  • Highly developed customer service skills with a proven ability to develop strong client relationships
  • Motivated self-starter with results and solution orientation and the ability to sustain a professional growth strategy while working independently
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Solid working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is a plus
Required Experience
  • Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in independent sales roles within the Turf & Ornamental distribution industry
  • Bachelor degree in a related discipline or a equivalent combination of education and experience
